Simply put, jewellery insurance puts you back in the same position you were in before the unexpected happened. We know how much your jewellery and luxury watches mean to you. They’re not only monetarily valuable; they also represent achievements, relationships and memories.

 

Jewellery insurance provides coverage to replace or repair your pieces if they’re damaged, lost or stolen.

 

How is Jewellery Insurance Different from Home Contents Insurance?

Most Home Contents policies include provisions for jewellery. 

 

Unfortunately, most Home Contents policies only cover jewellery when it’s at home. Additionally, single item limits are generally smaller than the value of most engagement rings and luxury watches.

 

A standalone jewellery insurance policy such as Q Report, on the other hand, covers your pieces no matter where you travel, and the value limit matches the item’s agreed value. Therefore, when you report a claim, you’ll receive the means to restore your jewellery fully.

Agreed Value Policy

Some insurers won’t pay the full value of your jewellery in the case of the claim. They’ll choose to replace it at the lowest price they can find it. We pay the actual amount shown on your policy minus a flat $100 excess if your jewellery is lost, stolen or damaged.

You chose your family jeweller for your own personal reasons. Perhaps you love your jeweller's style, selection or history. Or perhaps it’s a trusted family jeweller. Whatever the reasons, we think you should be able to return to your jeweller in times of loss.

 

Therefore, you will always be able to return to your chosen jeweller for repairs or replacement.

The value of jewellery changes from year to year due to many factors: currency rate fluctuations, current gold and metal prices, the supply and demand for precious stones, labour costs and even the age of the piece. To make sure your jewellery is always adequately covered, we revalue your jewellery every year at no charge to you.

What is the Claims Process Like?

If the unexpected happens to your jewellery, you’ll need to start the claims process. To begin, contact us directly by calling us on 1300 882 018 or emailing us at claims @qreport.com.au.

 

Next, we’ll gather the necessary processing information. For instance, we’ll need a statutory declaration and a police report if the item was lost or stolen.

 

At this point, we take care of the rest, liaising with your jeweller and the underwriter. Of course, we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

 

If you can get us the statutory declaration and police report right away, the claims process typically takes five business days or less. Sometimes it just takes a couple of days.
