Diamonds Aren’t Just for Engagement Rings

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but that doesn’t mean they’re off-limits to gentlemen. In fact, with today’s impressive selection of men’s jewellery, accessories and watches, we see diamonds on men more and more often.

Those beautiful diamonds created far beneath the earth’s surface can be an important part of your life as well, gracing your favourite timepieces and special-occasion cufflinks. Let’s take a closer look at diamonds for men. After all, couldn’t we all use a bit more brilliance in our lives?

Men’s Diamond Jewellery

Women’s engagement rings, pendants and earrings often feature diamonds as the show stopping component. With men’s jewellery, however, diamonds generally play a supporting role.

Take men’s rings, for example. Pave stones provide accents, bringing a bit of sparkle to an otherwise conventional ring. Likewise, small diamonds add interest to men’s bracelets and chains.

Doctors, athletes, trainers, construction workers and many others need low-profile rings to minimise the damage to their jewellery. Simple designs with subtle diamonds remain a popular choice, allowing men an outlet for their personal tastes without interfering with practicality.

Cufflinks, Tie bars and Tie Tacks

Some men’s jewellery rises above everyday practicalities, and this is undoubtedly true of cufflinks. A step above utilitarian buttons, cufflinks evoke a more elegant era and a greater awareness of the nuances of style.

Wear your cufflinks with French cuff dress shirts, never with single cuffs, and always wear a jacket while you’re sporting cufflinks. Once you start collecting cufflinks, you may find that it’s difficult to stop.

As with men’s rings and other jewellery, cufflinks often include accent diamonds. They may also be encrusted with amethysts, sapphires, emeralds and other precious gemstones, or with black onyx or mother of pearl.

And then, of course, you have the tie bar, which is also sometimes called a “tie clasp, “tie clip” or a “tie slide.” Whatever you call it, this accessory first appeared in the Victorian era to prevent ties from flying in the wind or dipping into soup.

Much like cufflinks, tie bars allow you to exhibit your personality and style. For correct placement, attach your tie bar right over your sternum, between the third and fourth buttons of your dress shirt.

Tie tacks (also known as “tie pins”) pierce right through your tie and attach to your shirt with a chain. Again, this accessory allows you to wear diamonds and show off your sense of style.
