(Infographic) Most Common Types of Ring Damage

Q Report Team

They say diamonds are forever, but the truth is, life doesn’t always go to plan. From shattered stones to bent bands and everything in between, here are the most common types of ring damage Q Report customers experienced in 2020.

Types of Ring Damage Final

Damaged Claws

In 2020, 59% of claims were due to ring claws being twisted, worn down, or broken off from everyday wear and tear. Thankfully, Q Report allows you to return to your original jeweller and have your ring replaced by someone you trust!

Lost Stones

43% of claims came from unlucky customers who lost their stones after they were dislodged from their rings. It only takes a slight knock of the ring claw to leave your stone vulnerable, so remember to remove it when doing physical activities like exercise, gardening and cooking.

Broken/Bent Bands

Broken and bent ring bands accounted for 28% of claims last year, but don’t get bent out of shape over it! Q Report protects you from all kinds of ring damage, with a low fixed excess of $100 if you need to make a claim.

Shattered/Chipped Stones

Diamonds may be one of the world’s hardest materials, but that doesn’t mean they’re completely immune to damage. Shattered and chipped stones accounted for 37% of all claims last year.

Crushed Ring

8% of claims in 2020 left our customers feeling crushed, until they realised their damage was covered by Q Report! Now that’s a weight off their shoulders.

Fire Damage

Whether it’s a one-off accident or a large-scale natural disaster, fire damage can be devastating to your precious items. Thankfully, Q Report includes cover for natural disasters, so we were able to help these customers get back on their feet.
