All You Need to Know About Watch Insurance

It's easy:

  1. Use the Jewellery Insurance Quote Calculator to the right (or click here) to get an estimate

  2. Contact us with basic details about your watch (e.g. model, age, value) in one of these ways:

Not convinced you need it? Read on:

For many, there is no longer a need to keep a timepiece on the wrist – smartphones have made sure of that. However, the trend of watches worn as jewellery is only growing stronger!

Your watch communicates a lot about your personality. It’s an expression of fashion sense, style and status. Brands such as Rolex, Patek-Philippe, Panerai and Hublot hold their value extremely well, making for excellent investments as well as family heirlooms. A quality watch is a feat of precision engineering to be appreciated for generations.

Unfortunately, no watch is indestructible regardless of quality and craftsmanship. The glass face on sports watches are highly susceptible to being cracked, or worse still, smashed. You'd be surprised how often people forget to remove their dress watch before diving in at the beach or pool; the smallest amount of salt water can corrode a mechanism beyond repair.

It's clear that watch insurance is a good idea. But something less obvious is why you shouldn't simply put that luxury watch on your home and contents policy.

By definition, home and contents means you aren't covered when you take your watch outside the home. Not ideal, as watches are made to be worn! This is where we at Q Report Jewellery Insurance come in. There are several other advantages to our specialised jewellery insurance:

An Agreed Value Policy, With Up To 125% Cover*

Many insurers will not replace your jewellery for the value shown on the policy. Q Report Jewellery Insurance is an agreed value policy, we will pay the actual amount shown on your policy less $100 excess. But we go further. 125% cover is an additional benefit built into the Q Report policy. If you have a claim and the same item of jewellery cannot be replaced for the sum insured, we can call on an extra 25% to ensure you receive like for like, putting you back into the same position you were prior to your loss. * Conditions apply – not available on Q Report pocket policy
